Years ago our parishioners sacrificed to buy land on Wabash Avenue, just across from Crafton Elementary School. The thinking at that time was that there might be a third Redlands parish there. But as the priest shortage got worse, the Diocese no longer thought that was a viable idea. Unfortunately the beautiful site, less than 12 acres, also proved to be too small for our current project--a church, hall, and elementary school.
Therefore we put it on the market to raise money for our project. Master Craft Homes made an offer several months ago, and began the due dilligence phase of escrow. This is the time when a prospective buyer examines the purchase to see if it proves viable.
Now Master Craft has taken the next step. They have given us an initial downpayment, and they have begun monthly non-refundabale payments of $10,000 toward their eventual purchase. The purchase price is 4.2 million dollars.
Master Craft will build single family homes there, and they will need zone change and annexation. So this sale won't be completed for a while.
The parish thanks our parishioner lawyer
John Nolan for his work negotiating the sale and giuiding it through the due dilligence phase of escrow.
All money from this purchase is being placed in our restricted building fund. It can only be used for our project--not for any other parish needs!
