Youth Ministry offers an exciting, hands-on EDGE program for all 7th and 8th graders! We do everything imaginable from building sculptures with marshmallows and spaghetti noodles to blindfolded faith walks to deepen students’ awareness of God’s presence in their lives, increase their knowledge of the Catholic faith in a fun and thought-provoking way, and challenge them to live and love like our beloved Christ. If you are a 7th / 8th grader or a parent of one, come check us out - you won’t regret it!
Jr. High EDGE meets bi-monthly on Tuesdays, 6:30pm - 8:00pm in Olive Hall.
Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright, Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child. Some of you may know this song that has been around for years it’s a classic song that is sung everywhere during mass and specially during Christmas caroling. Last year was the 4th annual Christmas caroling done by our very own Youth Ministry. Youth ministry takes pride in Christmas caroling. “God is everywhere even within those who seem that there light may have faded” said Maricela Dumond when asked what she had learned from the experience.
Last year we went to Brookside Health Center. We were able to sing to the patients at the health center and walk around spreading the Christmas spirit. The patients really enjoyed having us sing to them most of the patients were singing and clapping to the music. We had one of the patients come and thank us. “I would like to thank you all for coming and singing to us. It has brought me and my friends much joy to hear your lovely voices and you have reminded me what Christmas is about thank you again” said Curtis one of the patients at the home, personally that was very rewarding and assured us that we could continue to come and spread the good cheer to them in the future. “Seeing the smiles on the faces of those we touched and listening to them sing with us in excitement” said anonymous when asked what did you enjoy the most about caroling.
Christmas caroling is for every one of all ages it’s a fun way to give back to the community and feel good about yourself knowing you have brought smiles to someone. “The beautiful faces I approached. Curtis told me he used to be a dancer, Margaret told me about her high school choir. Tom had a beautiful voice and smile” said Sean Martinez when asked what he enjoyed most about the night. The three wise men brought gifts to the new born king Jesus Christ. I feel like Christmas caroling is in a way the same we come together as community to bring the gift of love thru singing, reminding everyone Jesus Christ is love and that’s what Christmas is about.
